If you have decided that you want to set up a saltwater aquarium, you may have taken the time to save up the money you needed for the equipment, and may have gone out to purchase everything, only to realize that there is still so much you do not know about setting up an aquarium; if you plan to get started soon with the salt water aquarium, here are a few things you will need to make sure you know for starting out.
Even if your fish tank is brand-new, the very first thing you should do is check for leaks; this is a step that a lot of people skip, as they assume there is no way a brand-new fish tank will have leaks, but while it is unlikely that you will deal with leaks in your tank, it is certainly better to catch them before you put in fish than to wait until you already have a full and functional tank to find out that it is leaking. After you have filled your tank all the way and allowed it to sit for a couple hours, to make sure no water is leaking out, the next thing that will be important for you to do is clean the tank; in cleaning the tank, you will want to use about a teaspoon of bleach for every 5 gallons of water, and you will want to give everything a thorough scrubbing – and of course, when you finish cleaning, you will want to rinse out the tank thoroughly to get rid of any excess bleach. After you have added sand and any plants or rocks that you want to add, you can start preparing your saltwater and adding it to the tank, along with the filter, the heater, and anything else that will be going into the tank before the fish; of course, at this point, it can feel as though your tank is ready to go, and many people make the mistake of beginning to add fish at this point. One thing you should understand, however, that all the levels will need to balance out in your tank before it will be safe for fish – and considering how expensive many saltwater fish are, you will certainly not want to risk their health just because you were impatient – so let the tank run for a minimum of 3 days, and if everything still looks good at that point, you will be ready to start adding fish at last!“The Perks Of Being A Wallflower,” By Stephen Chbosky
From the 1950s all the way through to the present day, “The Catcher In The Rye” by JD Salinger has been the most popular “coming of age” novel for every generation, but a new novel was published during the 1990s that quickly became a close second to the masterpiece Salinger penned so long ago. This novel was “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower,” by Stephen Chbosky – a little book that quickly became a phenomenon among high schoolers all across the country, and has grown into a phenomenon for readers of all ages; for any teenager looking for a terrific “coming of age” tale, or for anyone else looking for a great book, this is a wonderful piece of literature to consider picking up.
“The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” is comprised entirely of letters from a high school freshman named “Charlie” (which he admits in an early letter is not his real name) to an unknown recipient, who does not know who Charlie is. This literary device allows the recipient of the letters to become a sort of “journal” for Charlie - a person to whom he can share his thoughts, dreams, fears, and secrets, and in this way, the reader is also able to look into Charlie’s mind. Although the approach the novel takes (“a novel written in letters”) leads some to imagine the novel might be boring, the approach is pulled off with a grace and quickness of writing that makes “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” one of those books that you truly cannot put down. Throughout the book, Charlie goes through what some might consider to be an unrealistic amount of problems, issues, and experiences for a single high school freshman to go through in a single year – but this is also part of the beauty of the novel, as it becomes an encapsulation of the issues a modern-day high school student might encounter. With the impact this novel had on an entire generation, and with the impact it continues to have, it has come to be regarded as a “classic”; regardless of whether you are a high school student, a new reader, or an old reader, you are sure to find something to appreciate in “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.”
